About the position
The Wire Feed Welder is responsible for the safe delivery of inspections, maintenance and renewals tasks through effective self-performance and strong accountable leadership of their team and collaboration with MTM management. This role will involve the assessment, planning and delivery of rail and crossing build up activities.
This role is a permanent night shift, Sunday to Thursday, 10pm to 6am.
Main duties include
- Lead corrective, routine and preventative maintenance activities with a focus on wire feed welded repairs of track assets
- When required, lead the team and coach and develop staff to build wire feed welding capability of the Skilled Operatives and Works Assistants
- Develop, manage delivery, and review progress against plans to ensure they are on schedule and take effective remedial action as required.
- Complete all necessary reports, material returns, timesheets, requisitions and claim forms
- Personally lead daily pre-work and post-work meetings
- Manage the procurement of consumables in accordance with budget
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the appropriate;
- Occupational Health and Safety Standards
- Regulations
- Metro Trains Standards, Guidelines, Policies and Procedures

- TFPC RSHWA
About you
- Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker qualification) - mandatory
- Experience in Routine Gas Metal Arc Welding - mandatory
- Experience in Wire Feed Welding procedures
- Aluminothermic welding process
- 5 years track work experience
