Currie & Brown is currently looking for a quantity surveyor for our Brisbane office. The successful candidate will, as part of our team, lead projects to achieve a high standard of service delivery, with successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.
- Lead preparation of cost plans including measurement and pricing, taking ownership of and presenting cost plans.
- Managing the procurement process, ensuring that all stages (including pre-qualification, enquiry, analysis, recommendation and contract preparation) are performed effectively
- Ensuring that cost plans , reports and valuations are accurately prepared including checking work by others.
- Producing accurate monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client
- Estimating and agreeing post contract variations and monthly valuations.
- Undertaking value engineering
- Negotiating and concluding final accounts
- Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages
- Providing support to assistant cost managers and ensuring that they deliver on the above accountabilities
- Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team
Qualifications
- BSc in quantity surveying or equivalent
- Membership of one of the following institutions: RICS, API, Property Council, UDIA or similar
- Pre- and post-contract experience
- CostX experience essential
- Experience in both private and public works preferred.
- Experience in working with JCT forms of contract
- Good technical writing, client-facing and communication skills (both internal and external)
- Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
