Currie & Brown is currently looking for a quantity surveyor for our Brisbane office. The successful candidate will, as part of our team, lead projects to achieve a high standard of service delivery, with successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.
Lead preparation of cost plans including measurement and pricing, taking ownership of and presenting cost plans.
Managing the procurement process, ensuring that all stages (including pre-qualification, enquiry, analysis, recommendation and contract preparation) are performed effectively
Ensuring that cost plans , reports and valuations are accurately prepared including checking work by others.
Producing accurate monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client
Estimating and agreeing post contract variations and monthly valuations.
Undertaking value engineering
Negotiating and concluding final accounts
Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages
Providing support to assistant cost managers and ensuring that they deliver on the above accountabilities
Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team

Qualifications

BSc in quantity surveying or equivalent
Membership of one of the following institutions: RICS, API, Property Council, UDIA or similar
Pre- and post-contract experience
CostX experience essential
Experience in both private and public works preferred.
Experience in working with JCT forms of contract
Good technical writing, client-facing and communication skills (both internal and external)
Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible
