Review drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
Select correct materials for the job to be cut
Mark out material such as steel plate, pipe, PFC etc in preparation for cutting or bending
Cutting of marked out items as per dimensions on drawings using oxy cutting torches, band saw etc
If required bend items to specifications on drawings by using a press or heating where required
Preparing of items using power or hand tools ready for assembly
Assemble job items using hand tools and measuring equipment and tack weld together
Measure and examine completed work to verify conformance to specifications before welding
Weld components and framework using a variety of welding processes either to client specifications or to AS1554
Inspect completed works and grind, sand, polish to required finish using hand and power tools to a high standard
Work with supervisor to ensure all jobs have been inspected before they leave the workshop

Essential Criteria (what’s required):

Relevant Boilermaker/Welder Trade certificate
Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, weld procedures
Minimum 3 years Industry exposure
Confident with Mig/Stick and Tig Welding on various metal types
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Planning and organisational skills
Share industry knowledge/train apprentices
Good communication skills both written and oral
Proven knowledge and experience of Industrial Fabrication
Operation of manual machine tools, as part of the fabrication process when required
Machines to be kept in a tidy and well-maintained manner, which would require maintenance be undertaken from time to time
Punctual and reliable
Have a current drivers licence
